T-Mobile to Start iPhone Sales Within 3-4 Months
Published on:
T-Mobile USA's CEO has elaborated on previously announced plans to start selling Apple's iPhone and said that the company expects to start offering the smartphone in three to four months time.
The CEO, John Legere told Reuters that the company will also press ahead with its plans to scrap handset subsidies across its product range by the time the iPhone goes on sale. The company hopes that offering lower tariffs will help pull in customers from other networks, who may be more willing to pay more upfront for new handsets.
Legere declined to disclose details about the company's agreement with Apple, although he had in the past said that the company wouldn't do the sort of "at any cost" deal signed by Sprint Nextel.
The company already has a large iPhone user base, as its customers buy the handsets either second-hand or without subsidy from other retailers. It estimates that around 1.9 million of its customers are using an iPhone, and it that is growing by 100,000 per month.
