Vodafone UK Starts Offering Used IPhones to PrePay Customers

Vodafone UK has launched a new-year promotion that offers discounted second-hand smartphones to customers in a push to drive up mobile data usage.
The "Nearly New" promotion offers discounts of up to £155 (US$250) on the cost of a used iPhone 4 for prepay customers, or discounted tariffs for contract customers.
The mobile network is including handsets from Samsung and HTC in its promotion - which is the first time the company has offered used handsets for sale.
"Nearly New is designed to make it even more affordable for people, especially those who prefer pay-as-you-go services, to get their hands on a smartphone," Vodafone said in a statement . "It is part of our ambition to get the Internet into the hands of our customers."
The company is offering a 12-month warranty for prepay customers and a 2-year warranty for contract customers who sign a 2-year agreement.
The handsets being offered are models returned by customers in "very good condition", which it then repackages.
