China Mobile Chooses France Telecom for Interconnection
France Telecom has signed a groundbreaking voice interconnection agreement with the GSM network, China Mobile. The agreement covers telecommunications traffic, with a potential for international hubbing at a later stage. Since deregulation, this is one of China Mobile's first agreements of its kind with overseas carriers.
The China - France routes are currently being opened by the carriers' technical teams and will be fully operational by March.
Lu Xiangdong, Vice President of China Mobile, added: "We're very pleased to announce this interconnection agreement with France Telecom. It means a substantial reduction in our international transit costs and a reliable alternative transmission route. We are most enthusiastic about this cooperative venture."
