Apple Agrees to Drop Patent Lawsuit Against One Samsung Smartphone

Apple has agreed to remove a Samsung smartphone from its patent lawsuits after Samsung said that it had no plans to sell the device in the USA.
Apple had sought to add new products to an ongoing patent dispute, which Samung objected to - and in its filing said that it wasn't planning on selling the Galaxy S III Mini in the USA anyway, so it shouldn't be included in any lawsuits.
Apple had been seeking to add the Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S III with Android 4.1, Galaxy S III Mini, Rugby Pro, Galaxy Tab 8.9 Wi-Fi and Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 to a lawsuit that is not due to be heard until 2014.
Samsung also objected to the inclusion of the other handsets on the technicality that Apple's filing came after the deadline set by the court.
Apple counters that it misunderstood the deadline information and will seek to have the other handsets added to the lawsuit anyway, but it wont object to Samsung's request to have the Galaxy S III Mini removed from the action.
Apple reserved the right to add that phone back again if it is able to buy the handset in the USA at a later date.
