Huawei and China Mobile Open GSM Lab in Pakistan

­China's Huawei and Pakistan based mobile network, Zong have established a GSM laboratory and training center at National University of Science and Technology (NUST).

Zong is a subsidiary of China Mobile.

This lab is to be used for study purposes; the lab is a complete telephone network including a GSM mobile infrastructure with one MSC, one BSC and one BTS, HLR and media gateway. The lab will also provide the platform for development of software, tools and patches to remove discrepancies. It will familiarize students with the fault, configuration, security, network performance management of telecom infrastructure.

Huawei has supplied US$1.3 million in hardware for the GSM laboratory.

Mr. Fan Yunjun, CEO, Zong said that the GSM lab created by ZONG is a fundamental part of their corporate social responsibility as helping young people access quality technological education will lay the foundation of cultivating talent necessary for the advancement of industry and development in Pakistan."
