Telekom Slovenije has selected Ericsson to supply radio access networks for 2G, 3G and 4G and an evolved packet core network for 4G, that will provide support across network technologies. The contract also includes new functionality for their existing Ericsson IMS core network to enable launch of Voice over LTE (VoLTE).
The new network will include the Ericsson RBS6000 Family of multi-standard base stations, ensuring lower carbon emissions, less heating and cooling, a smaller footprint, fewer components and fewer site visits.
Anders Runevad, President, Ericsson Western & Central Europe, says: "Ericsson was chosen as a sole supplier to Telekom Slovenije following a very tough and detailed period of trials, technical questions and negotiations. We won this contract by showing that Ericsson's solutions respond to Telekom Slovenije's complete requirements and to be the chosen partner is very satisfying."
The roll out will start at the end of November this year.
Under the contract as sole supplier for the mobile network, Ericsson will install, deploy and support multi-standard radio base station Ericsson RBS 6000 Family, evolved packet core EPC, Ericsson User Data Consolidation and VoLTE feature.
Ericsson has been the sole supplier of mobile equipment to Telekom Slovenije since 1991.
Financial terms for the contract were not disclosed.
