Huawei Wins Maldives Network Upgrade Contract

Wataniya Telecom Maldives has signed an agreement with Huawei for the modernization of its Radio Access Network.
This US$25 million project involves upgrading Wataniya's existing Radio Access Network (RAN) with a platform that will provide enhanced coverage across the country.
Under this project, testing of 4G services in Male' city will also be enabled early next year.
Said Mounir Hasrouni, Chief Technology Officer of Wataniya, "Wataniya's existing 3G+ network will be upgraded to the HSPA+ network, making this project a tremendous step ahead in technology for the country"
