Apple Ordered to Change Samsung Apology Notice on its Website

Published on:

Apple has for a second time annoyed a UK judge and has been ordered to change how it is publishing an apology on its website.

The company was ordered by the UK's Court of Appeal to publish public notices in newspapers and on its website acknowledging that Samsung had not copied its iPad design.

However, the notice, which was linked to by a small text link at the bottom of the UK website was found to be not-compliant with the court order after Apple added text to the court-approved statement, which did somewhat alter the impact of the court statement.

Apple has now been given 48-hours to simplify the message, which Apple had tried to bury in text about other issues and also post the statement directly onto the front page of the website.

Apple had tried to argue that it would take two weeks to modify the content on its website. The judges rejected that as unbelievable.

The court also required the use of a minimum font size in the link on the home page to make it more visible.
