Swisscom Cutting 400 Jobs Next Year

Published on:

Switzerland based Swisscom has announced that it is cutting around 400 existing jobs as it refocused efforts in other departments.

The company will offset the job losses by the creation of 300 jobs in "growth areas".

The job cuts will affect around 100 managerial and 300 jobs which are governed by collective labour agreement. For employees involved, the well established social plan is available.

The cost involved will be booked as a one-off restructuring provision in the fourth quarter of 2012, and will amount to around CHF 50 million (US$53.6 million).

The company had 16,415 staff at the end of the third quarter of 2012.
