KPN Sells Part of its Dutch Towers Portfolio

Published on:

Netherlands based KPN says that it has agreed to sell an unspecified number of its Dutch mobile towers to Protelindo, an Indonesia based owner and operator of towers for wireless communications.

The sale will result in cash proceeds of EUR75 million and a book gain of EUR66 million.

In The Netherlands, mobile towers are generally used by multiple mobile operators. KPN said that it does not consider the exploitation of a large part of its Dutch mobile towers to be a core business. Consequently, KPN previously disposed of mobile towers in the 2008-2012 period. Following the sale of the mobile towers, KPN leases back the space it requires for its network equipment.
