Vodafone Starts Spoiler Marketing Campaign As EE Prepares LTE Launch

Published on:

Vodafone UK has started an aggressive marketing campaign on the eve of the launch of LTE services by rival network, EE.

EE plans to launch its LTE network later this week after securing a head start over its rivals which have to wait until next year before being able to bid on the necessary radio spectrum.

Vodafone started its marketing onslaught with branded wraps around many of the UK's leading newspapers on Friday. The company expects to spend £4 million on the spoiler campaign.

The campaign is also backed by an offer the company is making to its customers.

Any existing customer who wants to upgrade to Vodafone's LTE services next year will have 70% knocked off the cost of their outstanding contract.

The offer is aimed at customers who might want to sign up for a service this Christmas, but are worried about being locked into a 3G based service when faster networks are available.
