Eid Suspension of Cell Phone Services Considered

Published on:

The Pakistani government is considering a one-day cellular phone service suspension on Eid ul Adha October 27 in efforts to prevent terror attacks in the country, media reported October 24.

Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik told media the government would tighten security measures to curb terror activities and that provincial governments had been asked to deploy additional security during Eid prayers, media reported.

The measures were announced after intelligence agencies issued reports describing terrorist use of cell phones to trigger bombs and to communicate to others about attacks, Jang reported.
