Orange Confirms Swiss LTE Launch Next June

Published on:

Orange Switzerland has kicked off a series of road shows around the country to promote its forthcoming LTE services, although the launch is not due until next June.

"With our 1,800 MHz network and the frequencies acquired through auction, we are in a very good position to focus on a fast rollout and to offer a full commercial launch for our customers. We are investing in such a way that we can offer 4G in 10 cities in record time," explained Johan Andsjö, CEO of Orange Switzerland.

Orange has decided that the full commercial LTE based 4G  launch will take place in 10 cities on 1 June 2013. Orange will also offer 4G for the iPhone 5.

Within the investment programme started in 2010, Orange is investing over CHF 700 million (US$760 million) in the modernisation and further expansion of its mobile phone network, which includes the adoption and commercialisation of 4G.
