HTC is expected to price its forthcoming Windows 8 based smartphones at an aggressive level in to order to boost sales as it uses the platform to supplement its shrinking Android market share.

Citing industry sources, Taiwan's DigiTimes wrote that HTC 's ambitions for WP8 smartphones could be only second to Nokia. HTC got its initial break in the smartphone market when it partnered with Orange to develop Windows Mobile based handsets, so the move could be seen as a return to its historic home.

Although Samsung is also launching WP8 based smartphones, HTC could take advantage of Samsung's primary focus on Android smartphones, to differentiate itself in the market.

An unlocked HTC's WP8 X is exoected to be available for US$500-600 compared to US$700 for Samsung's Ativ S. Nokia's unlocked Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 are expected to range from US$600-800, estimated the sources.
