LG to Start Android OS Upgrades for Smartphones

­LG has announced plans for upgrades to some of its smartphones to the latest version of the Android OS - but initially this is only expected to be for customers in South Korea.

According to a statement from the company, it will start deploying the Jelly Bean upgrade for Optimus LTE II smartphone from next month.

This will be followed by the Optimus G in December and then the Optimus Vu and Optimus Vu II to be upgraded during the first quarter of next year.

The company carried out upgrades to the Android OS version, Ice Cream Sandwich in July this year.

The Korean press statement did not elaborate on plans to expand the upgrade program to other countries.
