Nokia Upgrades its Public Transport Finder App

Published on:

Nokia has released an upgrade to its local transport finding service -- Nokia Transport -- which now works in over 550 cities.

The app lets users type in their destination, and it pulls up local public transport options to complete the journey. The app also integrates walking directions to guide users to the station and all the way to their final destination.

Nokia Transport version 2.3 for Windows Phone features a more intuitive display with new transport mode and POI icons as well as easy access to previous destinations. Automatic over-the-air updates ensures the internal database is kept up to date.

Additionally, the new POI icons in the History view (e.g. hotels, restaurants, shops) make it easy for users to identify their destination.

Now a simple swipe left or right in the main screen reveals a users previous destinations, then they can tap to see the route options from wherever they are.

For cities where public transport schedules are published and available, Nokia Transport provides timetable routing, which provides users with the total time spent in transit from the start of a journey to the finish, including precise arrival times for each stop along the way as well as any wait times between different legs of the journey. With 109 cities worldwide, most major urban cities that have published and available public transport schedules are supported with timetable routing.
