Qualcomm to Add Support for Java in M2M Chipsets

­Qualcomm and Oracle have announced they are working together to bring Oracle Java ME Embedded 3.2 support to Qualcomm's QSC6270-Turbo chipset, which utilizes its Gobi modem solution for 3G.

The companys said that the combination of the Java platform, used by more than 9 million developers worldwide, with the QSC6270-Turbo chipset, will offer a wide range of technical and business benefits to M2M software developers and systems integrators.

Support for Java on the QSC6270-Turbo chipset will enable developers with little mobile development experience to write and execute Java applications directly on devices that incorporate a QSC6270-Turbo chipset, taking advantage of the various hardware interfaces and capabilities of the 3G modem.

"Collaborating with Oracle to enable Java on the QSC6270-Turbo chipset provides participants in the M2M ecosystem with a broad set of powerful technologies to fulfill key M2M requirements."

QTI is a Gold level member of Oracle Partner Network (OPN).
