Sales Ban on Samsung Tablet Lifted in the USA
Published on:
A Californian court has lifted the temporary sales ban on Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet following a request from the South Korean firm.
The sales ban had been secured by Apple earlier this year after it accused the company of copying its iPad tablet. However, the Jury in the billion dollar lawsuit between the two companies rejected that part of Apple's wide-ranging claims against Samsung.
Samsung asked US District Judge Lucy Koh to revoke the ban, and although she earlier declined on technical grounds, these have now been overcome.
In another development, Samsung has made a claim that Apple's latest iPhone 5 violates its patents. Samsung added the claims to an ongoing dispute, which is not expected to be heard by the court until 2014 though.
The next significant court date is in December, when Samsung will seek to have the earlier patent infringement decision overturned due to allegations of juror misconduct, while Apple will be seeking a permanent ban on sales of Samsung's Galaxy S3 smartphone.
