BT Openreach Announces Mobile Infill Proposition

Published on:

UK landline network, BT Openreach has announced that it is looking at opportunities to support the roll out of mobile coverage to areas of the UK where coverage is either non-existent or patchy, typically more rural areas.

In these areas traditional mobile network deployment solutions have proved difficult or uneconomic to provide. With advances in small cell technology and a growing interest from government and local communities to provide coverage to mobile 'not spots', the company says that it has drafted a mobile infill solution that they would like to seek engagement and feedback on from interest operators.

The company said that the solution would look to enable Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to provide mobile coverage from Openreach infrastructure, with the purpose of targeting these not spots.
