Mobile Service in Kurram Restored After 4 Years

Mobile phone service to the tribal Kurram Agency, Pakistan, returned after four years of suspension September 19.
Officials suspended the service in 2008 after bloody sectarian clashes and Taliban attacks on the Shia community, political administration official Khurshid Khan told Central Asia Online.
"The situation has to a great extent improved after the signing of a peace agreement between Shias and Sunnis in February this year, and thus mobile service is restored," he said.
The restoration of service is a great relief for the local population, said Saif Ali, a local resident.
