Motorola Mobility Shows Off Intel Powered Android Smartphone

Published on:

Motorola Mobility has shown off its first Intel based Android smartphone, the RAZR i. The new smartphone comes with a Super AMOLED Advanced 4.3-inch display with Corning Gorilla Glass spans from edge-to-edge with virtually no border around the edge of the handset.

Motorola said that the RAZR i is the first smartphone that can achieve speeds of 2GHz thanks to a Intel Atom processor, along with a battery that is 40 percent more powerful than the competition.

The handset is also said to be able to launch its 8-megapixel camera within one second, and can take 10 photographs within a second when in a multi-shot mode.

"Together with Intel, we're redefining what people can expect from a mobile device. A camera that launches in an instant, Web pages that load blazingly fast and a device that's the perfect balance of screen size and fit in hand," said Jim Wicks, senior vice president, Consumer Experience Design, Motorola Mobility.

The phone will launch with Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich and is upgradeable to Jelly Bean. RAZR i also features near field communication (NFC) technology so you can send contacts, links, maps and more directly to compatible phones with Android Beam.

Availability and pricing

Motorola RAZR i will be available in black beginning in October in select European and Latin American markets.
