TOT Chairman and Directors Resign After Approving Network Expansion Plans

The Chairman and seven independent directors of Thailand's state-owned mobile network, TOT have resigned, just after approving a network expansion plan.
TOT chairman, Panthep Chamrasromran resigned after local media reports suggested an internal conflict with the other directors. His resignation was immediately followed by the resignation of seven other directors who represent the private sector.
The company has thirteen directors.
The resignations came just after the company approved the deployment of 12,000 base stations across the company in the second phase of its 3G network expansion. The first phase, which is due to complete next month will have deployed 4,250 base stations.
The TOT also expects to inherit 13,000 2G mobile stations under AIS's build-transfer-operate concession, which expires in 2015.
As a state-owned company, its THB30 billion (US$970 million) investment plans have still to be approved by the government though.
