Samsung Signing Off on Tech Specs for Galaxy S4 Smartphone

Samsung is preparing to show off an upgraded smartphone -- the Galaxy S4 -- in a few months time, at next year's Mobile World Congress.
Citing unnamed company officials, as well as component suppliers, the Korea Times reported that the timetable for the launch of the new phone was finalised just after Apple showed off its latest handset. The timing suggests that Samsung waited until the phone was released before signing off on the specifications of its handset.
"Samsung is ready to unveil the next Galaxy smartphone -- the Galaxy S4 -- at early next year's mobile world congress (MWC) in the Spanish city of Barcelona," an official from the firm told the newspaper, asking not to be identified.
The new smartphone is expected to go on sale shortly afterwards, by March at the latest.
The Samsung official also said that the launch, coming less than 9 months after the current Galaxy S3 was targeted at Apple's iPhone 5 smartphone.
The Galaxy S4 is expected to be a quad-core model, based on Samsung's Exynos and Qualcomm's Snapdragon processors depending on the country. The display is also expected to be a 5-inch screen based on OLED technology.
It can be expected that the new smartphone will also adopt the necessary patent bypasses to avoid a potential sales ban being sought by Apple.
