Motorola Mobility Closing Spanish Offices by End of the Year

­Google has decided to close its Motorola Mobility offices in Spain by the end of this year as part of the previously announce retrenching of the company's operations, local media has reported.

Citing unnamed sources, the Europa Press newspaper said that the deterioration of the local economy and the unfavourable prospects for sales in the country were the reasons for the decision to close its local subsidiary.

The company's market share in Spain was reported to be just 3 percent and Motorola Mobility will be focusing European sales efforts in Germany, UK and France.

Motorola's workforce in the country is about 50 employees.
