Vodafone Australia Launches DC-HSPA+ Upgrade
Published on:
Vodafone Australia has announced the launch of the most critical phase of its $1.7 billion network upgrade, with all base station sites now equipped with DC-HSPA+ capability.
Vodafone is now starting to dial up data speeds with today's launch of Vodafone 3G+ (Dual Carrier HSPA+) services in key parts of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Perth, Adelaide and Newcastle.
"Over the last two years, we've been working hard to upgrade the Vodafone network, and now have brand new equipment at every Vodafone base station across Australia," explained Peter Ryan, General Manager Networks. "We're now ready to accelerate our data speeds and the speed of network upgrades with the introduction of Vodafone 3G+ this month and our planned rapid roll out of 4G (LTE) from early next year."
Vodafone customers with the latest - or soon to be launched - smartphones can expect to receive data speeds from 2 - 16Mbps within selected metropolitan areas.
Vodafone customers' mobile coverage experience will be further enhanced with an expanded network joint venture with Optus, which will provide Vodafone customers with coverage reaching 96% of the Australian population, from as early as April 2013.
