Nokia Siemens Networks Expects to Overtake Huawei in Market Share Next Year

Published on:

Nokia Siemens Networks expects to overtake Huawei next year in the mobile network infrastructure market, the company's USA based head of customer operations has said.

Citing new contracts the company has won, he told the Reuters news agency that the company expects to take the second spot in market share from Huawei for 2013, on a full year basis.

The market leader is currently Ericsson, followed by Huawei then NSN.

NSN's head of customer operations for the Americas, Kenneth Wirth told Reuters that the company has won 64 contracts for LTE based upgrades.

"Those contracts we've signed will start to ramp up." Wirth said. "We'll see share growth."

In related news, the company's CEO, Rajeev Suri confirmed previous reports that the firm is looking to sell its business support systems (BSS) division.

He also said that overall spending by telecom operators is expected to be flat this year, although the company is seeing some improvements in the second-half, especially in the USA.
