T-Mobile USA Encouraging iPhone Migrations Onto its Network

Published on:

T-Mobile USA has stepped up its efforts to counter the lure of Apple's iPhone pulling customers to other networks by trying to persuade customers that they can bring their existing iPhones to its network.

The company says that it already has over a million iPhones being used on its services, even though it cannot support the higher speed mobile broadband services.

Starting this week, the company's branded retail stores will receive an iPhone 4s demo unit and sales staff will start training to help customers set up their compatible iPhone. The company is also working on iOS based apps to compliment its existing Android apps.

In terms of addressing mobile broadband needs, the company is now starting to turn up HSPA+ service in its 1900MHz spectrum. Sites are already live in cities like Seattle, Las Vegas, Washington DC and the New York metro area.

In a statement, the company said: "Today, we don't sell the iPhone, but we do have something worth selling to people who have one. Our message to iPhone customers is simple: bring your unlocked iPhone to T-Mobile and save."
