Apple Seeking Wider Ban on Samsung Sales in the USA
Published on:
Apple has stepped up its fight against Samsung with the expected request for a ban on sales of Samsung's flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S3 in the USA. Apple is also seeking to have a temporary order concerning the Galaxy Tab 10.1 made permanent, and bans on a number of other devices enforced.
The move follows on from last week's patent victory, which had however only specified older Samsung handsets as being affected. To seek the ban on the newer devices, Apple's amended complaint cites five new patents which were not part of the earlier court cast.
Apple filed its revised complaint in a Californian federal court and is seeking the usual damages and a ban on sales.
Apple claims that, Samsung has "systematically copied Apple's innovative technology and products features, and designs, and has deluged markets with infringing devices in an effort to usurp market share from Apple."
Samsung said that Apple is seeking to limit consumer choice and will fight the request.
The Samsung devices named in the complaint are: Galaxy S III - Verizon, Galaxy Note, Galaxy S II Skyrocket, Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch, Galaxy S II, Galaxy S II - T-Mobile, Galaxy S II - AT&T, Galaxy Nexus, Illusion, Captivate Glide, Exhibit II 4G, Stratosphere, Transform Ultra, Admire, Conquer 4G, and Dart. Other devices covered by the filing are the Galaxy Player 4.0 and Galaxy Player 5.0 media players, and the Galaxy Note 10.1, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus and Galaxy Tab 8.9 tablets.
