Samsung Wins Patent Battle Against Apple in Japan

Published on:

Samsung has won a patent victory over Apple, after a Japanese court ruled that the South Korean firm hasn't infringed one of Apple's patents covering the transfer of media content from a smartphone to a computer.

The contrary ruling comes a week after a US court awarded Apple US$1.05 billion in damages to Apple for similar patent infringements.

Tokyo District Court Judge, Tamotsu Shoji took just a few minutes to decide the case and dismissed the case, which had been filed by Apple last August.

"We welcome the court's decision, which confirmed our long-held position that our products do not infringe Apple's intellectual property," Samsung said in a statement.

Apple has not said if it plans to appeal.
