Amazon Sells Out of Kindle Fire on Eve of Announcements About New Tablets

Published on:

Amazon has announced that it has sold out of its Kindle Fire tablet, just a couple of weeks ahead of a press conference that is widely expected to announce the successor tablets. Amazon added that in just nine months, Kindle Fire has captured 22% of tablet sales in the USA.

"We're grateful to the millions of customers who have made Kindle Fire the most successful product launch in the history of Amazon," said Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com Founder and CEO. "This has been a big year for digital products on Amazon -- all of the top 10 sellers on Amazon.com since Kindle Fire launched just less than a year ago are digital products.

" Kindle Fire is sold out, but we have an exciting roadmap ahead" he added, which just adds fuel to the speculation about the upcoming press conference.

The press conference is being held on the 6th September, just after Nokia's announcement, and a week before Apple's. Amazon is thought to be working on two new Kindle Fire tablets - an upgrade to the existing 7-inch model and a new 10-inch model to take it firmly into the mainstream tablet market.
