Huawei Sues Indian Network Over Unpaid Bills
Published on:
China's Huawei has taken its lawsuit against Indian mobile network, Videocon to the Mumbai High Court after accusing the company of not paying outstanding invoices.
The dispute emerged after Huawei suspended work on supporting Videocon's GSM network last month, as part of their managed services agreement until the invoices are paid. It's claimed that around US$144 million is outstanding.
Videocon was awarded licenses in the controversial 2008 allocation and although its licenses were cancelled, the network is still operating pending its participation in the forthcoming reauction of the reclaimed radio spectrum.
The outstanding invoices are said to cover network infrastructure sales in July 2009 and ongoing managed services.
However, Videocon denies that the Mumbai High Court has accepted the case yet, and says it is counter-suing for US$200 million after it claims the company supplied faulty equipment and poor services.
Huawei denies that counter-claim.
