South Koream Smartphone User Base Passes 30 Million Mark

­The number of smartphone users in South Korea passed the 30 million mark earlier this week, which represents around 60% of the mobile phone market.

The number of smartphones in use reached 10 million last March, and 20 million last October.

Citing figures from the mobile networks, the Chosun Ilbo reported that SK Telecom had the biggest chunk of the market with 49.2 percent, followed by KT (31.4 percent) and LG Uplus (19.4 percent).

The LTE subscriber base currently stands at just under 10 million.
