Qualcomm has accidentally confirmed some technical details of a forthcoming smartphone from LG Electronics.
The unnamed handset will use Qualcomm's S4 Snapdragon chips in a quad-core configuration, the company confirmed in a statement. Specifically, the flagship smartphone will be based on Qualcomm's APQ8064 quad core S4 system-on-chip (SoC), which also features an Adreno 320 graphics processing unit (GPU).
LG has been known to be working on a new model for some months, and it will be the first to follow the company's new policy of sourcing as many components from other LG subsidiaries, such as the display screen.
LG's Chairman, Koo Ban-Moo recently complained that the company does not take advantage of its own technologies when developing handsets, although it still needs mobile chipsets to be supplied by the likes of Qualcomm.
The handset is expected to be announced within the next few weeks with sales starting next month.
