Huawei says that it has won a backhaul contract from China's Shangdong Mobile for WLAN services in 17 cities of Shandong province.

The deployed platform uses GPON access technology to backhaul WLAN data streams, providing 54 Mbit/s Internet access for 50,000 WLAN hotspots.

Huawei's FTTW (Wi-Fi backhaul) solution applies to Shandong Mobile's E2E mobile backhaul network, covering the OLT deployed in the central office, the optical distribution network (ODN), and the optical access equipment MDUs.
