Tele2 Confirms Employee Arrested at its Kazakhstan Subsidiary

Tele2 has confirmed that it is currently conducting an internal investigation into accusations that an employee at its 51% owned subsidiary in Kazakhstan, Mobile Telecom Service received data concerning rival mobile network, Kcell's market strategies through illegal means.
According to local news reports, the data was accessed by breaking into the company's corporate email servers - although Tele2 is not commenting on the specifics of the case. The local reports suggest that around 150 confidential files were access between April to June 2012.
No customer data was accessed, although this suspicion that senior manager files at Kcell were accessed, or attempts made to access them.
As soon as the employee's illegal activity was discovered, Tele2 Kazakhstan took immediate action and relieved the accused individual of his duties at the company.
A criminal case has been opened against that employee and Tele2 says that it is co-operating fully with police enquiries.
