Vodafone May Resume Subsidies for Handsets in Spain

Published on:

Vodafone Spain is reported to be reversing a recent decision to scrap handset subsidies, at least for a temporary promotion.

The company is said to be planning a 6-week campaign to offer subsidised handsets starting from later this week. The move comes just four months after Vodafone stopped offering cheaper phones.

The move is reported by ADSL Zone as being a reaction to the drop in customers willing to pay full price for a new handset in a market that is suffering due to the ongoing economic problems in the country.

Rival network, Movistar is expected to react by offering a 20% reduction in phone bills to people purchasing an unsubsidised handset.
