Samsung to Reverse Removal of Search Functions in Galaxy S3 Smartphone

Published on:

Samsung has announced that the removal of a search function in its flagship Galaxy S3 smartphone was a mistake and it will reverse the decision.

The search function has to be removed in the USA due to a patent dispute with Apple, but a recent update to the handset software removed it from handsets sold outside the USA in a move which was seen as being a reaction to the ongoing patent spat between the two companies.

However, Samsung now says that was a mistake.

In a statement, the company said that the most recent software upgrade for the Galaxy S3 "included the inadvertent removal of the universal search function,"

"Samsung will provide the correct software upgrade within the next few days." the company added.
