NTP Settles Wireless Email Patent Disputes

­NTP says that it has settled a number of patent disputes relating to the delivery of electronic mail over wireless systems.

The signed agreement provides broad coverage under NTP's patent portfolio to all of the companies. The contents of the agreement have not been disclosed.

The 13 companies involved in the litigation, including wireless carriers AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint Nextel and T-Mobile USA

Also, smartphone manufacturers Apple, HTC, Motorola Mobility, Palm, LG and Samsung; and email service and software providers Google, Microsoft and Yahoo.

As a result, all pending litigation between NTP and these companies will be dismissed.

NTP says that it holds eight distinct U.S. patents relating to the delivery of electronic mail over wireless systems.
