Brazilian Network Deploys Beamforming Wi-Fi Coverage

Published on:

Brazil's Oi has selected beamforming Wi-Fi equipment supplied by GoNet Systems for its outdoor Wi-Fi network.

GoNet Systems xRF beamforming access points deliver broadband wireless services along the Copacabana, Leblon and Ipanema beaches in Rio de Janeiro as well as the city of Salvador, Bahia.

GoNet Systems MBW access points are designed for outdoor deployments in harsh urban conditions. With special channel filters and 90% effective noise mitigation, the MBW access points can be deployed in city centers and co-located with cellular BTSs, WiMAX and other Wi-Fi devices without suffering performance degradation due to noise.

"When we decided to deploy outdoor Wi-Fi network, we knew that performance in the dense and noisy environment would be an issue. However, we built a Wi-Fi network with a superior performance in terms of coverage, capacity and immunity to noise," said Pedro Ripper, Innovation and New Business director for Oi.
