KPN Planning Sale of German Base Station Towers

Published on:

KPN has hired bankers to advise on the sale of thousands of base station towers at its German subsidiary, the Reuters news agency has reported, citing two unnamed sources.

The company hired UBS to handle the sale, which could raise upwards of EUR300-400 million for the company. KPN recently reviewed plans to sell its German network, E-Plus following the hostile investment by Mexico's America Movil.

The sale was cancelled though when KPN concluded that it could be better to retain the subsidiary.

E-Plus is said to own around 18,000 towers in Germany, so a net gain of EUR400 million would indicate that only a small portion of the towers will be put up for sale.
