Research in Motion CEO Says There's Nothing Wrong With The Company

Research In Motion's CEO, Thorsten Heins has denied that the company is in a "death spiral", and contrary to most opinions asserted that there is "nothing wrong with the company as it exists right now"
In a radio interview, he told CBC's Matt Galloway that the company will be a very strong player in the smartphone market for years to come.
Heins took over the top job in January after the former co-CEOs finally stepped down in the face of mounting shareholder anger over falling sales and weak performance.
Although the company has faced pressure from other smartphone vendors in developed markets, he noted that the company is still performing well in the developing countries where high-end smartphones are out of reach of most consumers.
"We are still growing in Asia. There are still areas where we are No. 1," he said. "We are in the middle of a transition. We know what we are doing."
He also rejected reports that the company may not survive in its current state long enough to see the delayed launch of its BlackBerry 10 platform, which is now not expected until next year. He particularly pointed to the fact that the company has $2 billion in cash and equivalents in the bank and no debt.
"Yes, it is very, very challenged at the moment -- specifically in the U.S. market. The way I would describe it: we're in the middle of a transition," he said. "All that is in the making, it's in the works. This company is in the middle of it and I'm positive we will\ emerge successfully from that transition."
