Grameenphone Confirms Redundancies Under Way at the Company

Published on:

Bangladesh's Grameenphone has confirmed recent media reports that it is cutting staff numbers. The company however said that there were not large scale redundancies and that it is shuffling staff around to reflect changes in the industry.

Some staff who cannot fit into new roles are therefore being offered redundancies. It was recently reported that the regulator was investigating the allegations.

There were specific allegations that females were being targeted for redundancy, which the company denied.

The company also said that its redundancy packages were superior to those required as a minimum by the law.
