Huawei Wins Nepalese GSM Expansion Contract

­Huawei is reported to have won a network expansion contract in Nepal to add 4.8 million GSM lines to the Nepal Telecom network. The two-year contract is reported by the Himalayan Times as being worth around US$78 million.

"It is the largest project ever taken by the company," said spokesperson of the telecom Surendra Prasad Thike.

Huawei will also be responsible to carry out maintenance work for the five years after the equipments will go to the operation.

The Chinese company will be liable to install all equipment in the first phase -- within 4 months from starting work.
