Second Round of Bidding in T-Mobile USA Towers Sale
Published on:
T-Mobile USA is reported to have received a second round of bids as part of its previously announced intention to sell off its tower assets.
The bidders are reported by Bloomberg News to include American Tower and Crown Castle, along with unnamed private equity investors.
T-Mobile USA owns around 7,000 towers across the USA and is thought to be worth between US$2.25-US$3 billion if sold as a single lot.
The mobile network committed itself to looking for buyers for the tower assets last year, but put the sale on hold during its failed merger with AT&T. Although the parent company received a lump sum in cash from AT&T in compensation it is known to need more financing for its ongoing network upgrade programme.
It is expected that the final winner in the sale will be announced next month.
