Canada's Mobilicity Outlines Network Expansion Plans
Published on:
Newish Canadian mobile network, Mobilicity has announced plans to widen its network west of Toronto into Milton, Oakville, Burlington and Hamilton. East of Toronto, Mobilicity will launch in Pickering, Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa. In Ottawa, the carrier will focus on building out the network in Barrhaven, Orléans and Cumberland.
Last week, Mobilicity confirmed it will upgrade its HSPA+ network to support theoretical peak download speeds of up to 21Mbps later this year.
"We've spent the last year on network densification to provide a great network experience amidst tremendous growth in our existing service area," said Mobilicity President and Chief Operating Officer Stewart Lyons. "Now it's time to expand outward and bring Mobilicity's smart, affordable wireless service to more Canadians than ever."
Mobilicity also confirmed it is in the process of extending its network within the Greater Vancouver Area to include White Rock, Pitt Meadows and the Richmond-Surrey commuter corridors. In Edmonton, Mobilicity is expanding around St. Albert to the north and southward to the airport.
