NTT DoCoMo's LTE Subscribers Top 3 Million

­Japan's NTT DoCoMo announced today that subscribers to its LTE network surpassed three million on June 8th.

The LTE network -- branded as Xi -- launched on December 24, 2010 and reached one million subscribers on December 25, 2011.

Subscriptions, which have continued to increase with the introduction of the first Xi-compatible smartphones in November 2011 and a series of popular marketing campaigns, have now surpassed the three million mark.
