China's device certification officials have approved an unnamed Apple device for sale in the country sparking rumours that the company is about to launch the latest version of its iPad in the country.

The Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center approved a WCDMA compatible device for use on the China Unicom network.

The device identified only as A1430, does tend to show up as the new iPad when looked for on a search engine.

Although approval for sale has now been granted, the company may have to hold back on selling the device until it resolves its trademark dispute with Proview which claims to own the iPad brandname in China.
