New Algerian Network to Start Taking Orders Next Week

The new market entrant into Algeria's cellular market, Djezzy has said that it plans to start offering commercial services in the capital city, Algiers from February 15th 2002. The service will then be extended to 11 other cities by the end of the year. Djezzy general manager Lionel Coussi said that the company will start taking pre-orders from next week and is aiming to connect 500,000 subscribers by the end of the year.

Djezzy is owned by the Egyptian mobile phone operator Orascom Telecom and is spending $300 million on its network."
