Vodafone Ireland Delays Call Centre Job Transfers

Published on:

Vodafone Ireland has delayed plans to move around 300 call centre jobs to another outsource provider based in Northern Ireland.

The company had signed a contract with outsourced call centre operator, Teleperformance to take over 290 roles currently outsourced to Rigney Dolphin. A further 29 of Vodafone's directly employed staff are also affected by the decision.

The transfer of roles was due to take place this coming Tuesday, but Vodafone has now delayed that pending talks with union representatives.

"Vodafone is committed to resolving the outstanding issues and reaching a solution as quickly as possible in order to agree certainty for the people impacted by the changes." the company said in a statement.

Last month, after the transfer was announced, the majority of Vodafone customer care staff balloted by the Communication Workers Union voted in favour of industrial action.
