A Bulletproof Case for Apple's iPhone
Published on:
A Japanese firm says that it has developed an iPhone case that is designed to protect the smartphone from gunshots.
The bulletproof case is however not a lightweight Kevlar type product, and features an inch thick block of steel that the company says can resist a .50 caliber round.
As such, only the back of the phone is protected from impact, and presumably only if that side happens to also be facing the person holding the gun.
As the iPhone's camera is mounted on the back of the handset, a hole is drilled through the inch thick steel to allow that to function while still protected.
The case sells for US$650, which is more expensive than the handset it is protecting.
